photoblog image Bizarre

Bizarre

Like most people I find flies extremely disgusting. On a whim i decided to see how close I could get without scaring it away. Don't think i've ever moved so slowly :) Wonder what it was up to anyway. I was thinking of cropping a bit more off the bottom but for some reason I like it the way it is.

Well here is the first of the 'disgusting' shots I promised earlier. Loathe away :)

This is a fantastic shot Stan, great detail and composition is spot on. I don't want to think too much about that bubble though!
Stan: Glad you like the shot Steve. Wonder if thats what they do when they land on food....yuk!
hate flies, but this goes straight to likeys

and yeah, if it had occurred to me, i'd also have cropped off the bottom...but please dont bother cos this shot can't be hurt!
Stan: Thanks for stopping by and commentingsmile
This bee is maybe disgusting but certainly not your macro picture !! Wow, sharp details and colours are stunning. Crop is perfect. To my opinion, a very good image.
Stan: Thanks for looking. Its a great bee but i think its an even greater flywink
I have taken similiar pics and agree that macro shots, make you sometimes see beyond the uglyness of flies.
Your'e absolutley right to keep the composition like it is.
Stunning picture ! A great macro with a nice composition ! Bravo !!
Stan: Thanks a lot Zebsmile
This is good stuff, but some we don't need people this on SC smile.
I was so excited by the shot, I couldn't even spell correctly. " but we don't need people this good on SC smile", was what I meant to write.
Stan: I guess i can't ask for a bigger compliment than that smile

What a great image, Stan! You've been rewarded for your patience. Even a ball of spit can't spoil the shot.

Gory !!! This is a great shot !!
Stan: Gracias por tu commentario

Thanks for your comment
Don't crop a thing. It is composed perfect. I also hate flies, however, this is a really good shot. You can even see the hairs on the little legs. Is he blowing a bubble?
Stan: Thanks. Yes, he appears to be blowing a spit bubble.

Esto es totalmente impresionante. Nunca en mi vida he visto nada igual. El detalle es asombroso e incluso los colores son increibles. Necesito saber m├ís, que tama├▒o ten├şa esta mosca? A que distancias estabas de ella? Como pegaste la mosca a la hoja? wink A LIKEY!

This is totally impressive. In my life I have never seen nothing equal. The detail is amazing and the colors are even incredible. I need to know more, than so large it had this fly? To that distances you were of her? As you stuck the fly to the leaf? wink To LIKEY!
Stan: Muchas gracias para tus commentarios. La mosca estaba como veinte o treinta centimetros enfrente mi lente. No se porque la mosca no salen pero estoy feliz que puede tomar este foto.

Thanks for you comments. The fly was about 20 to 30 cm in front of my lens. I don't know why it didn't fly away but i'm certainly glad I got this shot.
Fantastic shot !!! What a disgusting creature though.
Stunning. Horrible subject but a stunning picture

You're macro shots are amazing Stan ! What lens & flash do you use for these shots ? Brilliant !
Stan: I generally use the Sigma 150mm macro with the 1.4X TC and a hot shoe mounted SB-800 with a softbox. Thanks for stopping bysmile

Fantastic! Photos like this are extremely important, simply because they lead us to reconsider our most basic responses to the world around us - you can't get more basic than "yuck"!
Stan: Look out for the next fly macro coming soon :p
Fantastic!
