Crop or not
This is a shot that DrAW recently saw whilst browsing my archives and asked why it hadn't been posted already. I've had mixed feelings about this one but its up now for you to critique. I'm still not sure if the left hand side of the pic should be removed to keep the focus on the flower or not.

White and pink that was good. Liked to see the vein that emerged in his petals. Good macro. Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia.
Stan: Thanks Yogy. Stop by again soon
The top left does distract a bit Stan and I've just done a screen capture and a quick crop and it works better for me like that.
Stan: Thanks for your opinion and looking
brillian imgage
that space can be removed and it will not make a more perfect picture ('perfect' what a relative term), it will just make it another brilliant image a picture about the pink petals...yeah big deal that space at left contains the leaf from the flower, very valuable information in my books (hey book...wink wink) i still don't know why people fuss about distractions when not all pictures should be about one subject... what stops a picture from being like a world map or dictionary...you look up which aspect of the whole work you do, depending on mood or need oops ok back to the pic, so my problem is not necessarily the space to the left...my problem could be that the space to the left can be clone-neatened, or blur-neatened to contain only the flower's leaf OR that the space makes it look like you made a mistake in centering...that could be fixed by cropping (easy eh)..or wait for it...adding more to the right of the pic but that would mean more 'distractions' eh?
Stan: LOL! Trust you to do that
You could go either way and have two different images, Stan. But with the tighter crop, this would be a greeting card, and like a watercolor painting. It's gorgeous.
Stan: I see what you mean about the crop though that would leave the flower almost perfectly centered. Glad you like the shot as is
I think it is lovely as is.
Stan: Another vote for leaving it as is. Thanks for stopping by
Looks good to me.
Looks good to me. Or you could do the other version and find out yourself...."If you feel a warm fuzzy feeling inside when looking at either image..then that's the one"..
i think the leafy green part gives character to the picture.
Your images are always so alive and full of colour. It's incredible. Please keep up the GREAT work and do keep sharing.
BrillianT!!!!!!
very beaituful!
Yeah cropping to the right would make it perfecter
Hello Stan.
Lovely image. When will i i eventually get your lovely photos i talked about? As they say the patient dog eats the fatest bone but i think the dog may eventually pass out waiting for the fatest bone. I sure want to do a collectionn around some of your images. they are quite fresh and inspiring. bimpe
Stan: I haven't forgotten about you. As you've probably guessed i've been away from SC (and photography) for a while. Interestingly I printed a couple of photobooks recently just to have a look at some of my photos in print. I'm now trying to find a decent printer for large prints that I plan to frame. Will keep you posted
